THIS IS A 1970 LOTUS ELAN PLUS 2S .
I have owned this car since
1985 and have probably come across most problems that occour on this car and some of the less common
faults, such as a broken seat frame which was a bit akward.Luckily I was putting the car in the garage
at the time .The frame snapped at the most flexed point of the seat across the tubular section under
the seat on both sides.To repair this (rather than buy a new seat at well over a hundred pounds) I found
an old garden chair with a metal frame of slightly less diameter tubing than the car seat and cut two
12" sections from this . I then forced each cut section into the car seat tubing and joined both parts
together with the new tube inside the broken parts ,a couple of nuts and bolts through each side of
the join makes the seat as good as new.

The Plus 2 'S' interior (below)was far more
detailed than the original plus 2.

This is Me at Brands Hatch in1985.The club Lotus special event day,included concours and ex-racing cars
on show,with races during the day of Lotus cars.It also allowed any Lotus driver there on the day to
drive 5 laps around the circuit to show of their cars.Although the club have put on many other great
events I think this was the best that I have atteneded.
